چکیده

Abstract Background Cardiopulmonary bypass is a specialized technique requiring high technical skills and generic competencies. Methods The Virtual Perfusionist 3-dimensional serious game for training nurses in cardiopulmonary management. design the results of preliminary usability analysis with group 28 perfusion nurse students are described. games played, errors, their causes analyzed. Students’ opinions measured an extended System Usability Scale. Results was well praised by attendees who could complete learning objectives after short period familiarization technology. Conclusions found useable satisfying. Further studies will analyze its effectiveness cardiovascular education.

A reusable training circuit for cardiopulmonary bypass.

At the turn of the millennium, perfusion teaching programs are faced with significant difficulties. The number of students in pediatric perfusion training has increased, and more importantly, the number of pediatric open-heart procedures has decreased because of a variety of reasons. Hence, they could barely satisfy the minimum requirements of pediatric cases established by the teaching program...

Cardiopulmonary Bypass - "evidence-based medicine"?

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the amount and quality of scientific evidence supporting principles that are currently applied for cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) performance. The scientific data concerning the effectiveness and safety of key principles of cardiopulmonary bypass is insufficient in both amount and quality to serve as a basis for practical, evidence-based guidelines.

Beating atrial septal defect closure monitored by epicardial real-time three-dimensional echocardiography without cardiopulmonary bypass.

BACKGROUND We assessed the feasibility of beating atrial septal defect (ASD) closure monitored by real-time 3D echocardiography (RT3DE). METHODS AND RESULTS RT3DE was developed with prototype ultrasound equipment consisting of a high-speed 3D rendering unit with a frame rate of 5 to 10 frames/s. We also developed a prototype semiautomatic suture device and suture cutting system. In the experi...

Three-dimensional numerical simulation of blood flow in the aortic arch during cardiopulmonary bypass.

OBJECTIVE To better understand the mechanism of stroke during cardiopulmonary bypass, it is necessary to obtain information on the location of turbulence, wall pressure, and flow distribution within the aortic arch. METHODS Blood flow was numerically simulated using the finite element method in the following representative case: a curved arterial cannula was inserted into the anterior wall of...

Three-dimensional echocardiography-guided beating-heart surgery without cardiopulmonary bypass: a feasibility study.

BACKGROUND There is no current acceptable approach for intracardiac beating-heart interventions. We have adapted real-time 3-dimensional echocardiography with specialized instrumentation to facilitate beating-heart repair of atrial septal defects and mitral valve plasty to investigate the feasibility of real-time 3-dimensional echocardiography-guided cardiac surgery. METHODS In experiment I a...
